Our Story

“Our mission is to celebrate Mexican craftsmanship by sharing pieces made by hand, supporting the people who make them, and helping keep the traditions behind them moving forward.”

Origin Mexico began in 2020 from a deep love for Mexico, its people, and the beauty of things made by hand.

What started with relationships with just a few artisans has grown into collaborations with makers across Mexico, each bringing their own skills, techniques and traditions to the pieces they create.

At the heart of Origin Mexico are those relationships.

We believe the way something is made matters just as much as the finished piece. That means working directly with artisans, building long term partnerships, and respecting the time, skill and knowledge behind their work.

Many of the techniques you see throughout our collections have been practiced and passed down for generations, from painting and embroidery to weaving and ceramic work. By sharing these pieces with a wider audience, our hope is to create meaningful opportunities for the people who make them while helping keep those traditions going.

And because so much is done by hand, no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.

That is part of what makes them special.

Mi Historia

In the 1970s, my grandparents left Durango and moved their family to Tijuana in search of greater opportunities.

That decision shaped so much of the life that followed for our family.

Growing up as a first generation Mexican American meant living with both Mexico and the United States as part of my story. There were two languages, different foods and traditions, and a constant connection between the two places.

As I got older, that connection became something I wanted to understand more deeply and hold onto.

Origin Mexico became one way for me to do that.

It gave me the opportunity to build relationships with artisans across Mexico, learn more about the traditions behind their work, and create a place where that craftsmanship could be shared with people who truly value it.

There is also a lot of gratitude behind this business.

My grandparents made choices that opened doors for the generations that came after them. Origin Mexico is, in many ways, my opportunity to give something back. To create opportunities for others while honoring the country, culture and people who are such an important part of my own story.

Today, Origin Mexico is a tribute to my family, my heritage, the traditions that shaped me and, most importantly, the people who continue to make these beautiful things by hand.
